Program Descriptions

Please note that these program descriptions are based on an ideal situation but due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, our programs may look a little different if/when the season begins. We appreciate your patience during this time.

Mites - If your child was born in 2012-2015, he/she belongs in this category.  The Mite program is a mixed (boy/girl) category.  Players in this Age Category will participate in sessions where skill development is the key and most importantly fun for the kids.  There are two options in this program: an 18 week program and a 9 week program.  The kids receive a jersey and ball that they get to keep at the end of the season.

There will be an EYBA Mites Tournament for those in the 18 week program at the Saville Community Sports Centre. Details will be released during the season.

U11 (formerly Mini) - If your child was born in 2010 or 2011, he/she belongs in this category.  The Minis usually play on Saturdays with the occasional Friday evening game.  Please note there might be weeks where teams play two games, and there might be bye weeks where no games are played.  Your team may also play on a Sunday...sorry.

They will also practice once a week in a gym in south east Edmonton on a weeknight. Minis are a gender specific category, meaning that boys and girls play on separate teams.

U13 (formerly Bantam) - If your child was born in 2008 or 2009, he/she belongs in this category.  They will practice once a week in a gym in south east Edmonton.  Bantams are a gender specific category, meaning that boys and girls play on separate teams.

To help with seeding, there will be a seeding tournament before the season starts for A and B division teams.  Once the season begins, the Bantam Boys A/B teams will play on Tuesdays, while the Bantam Girl A/B teams will play on Wednesdays. There will also be occasional Thursday evening games for girls and boys teams.

All other divisions usually play on Saturdays with the occasional Friday evening game.  Your team may also play on a Sunday...sorry.

Please note there might be weeks where teams play two games, and there might be bye weeks where no games are played.

U15 (formerly Midget) - If your child was born in 2006 or 2007, he/she belongs in this category.  They will practice once a week in a gym in south east Edmonton.  Midgets are a gender specific category, meaning that boys and girls play on separate teams.

U18 (formerly Juvenile) - If your child was born in the years 2003-2005, he/she belongs in this category.  The Juveniles usually play on Saturdays with the occasional Friday evening game.  Please note there might be weeks where teams play two games, and there might be bye weeks where no games are played.  Your team may also play on a Sunday...sorry.

Juvenile players are ineligible to play on both a community team and their high school's senior team at the same time, so the juvenile season is split in two: before and after Christmas.  When you register, you'll be asked to pay $285 for the full season.  If you make your high school's senior team, please email ed@southeastbasketball.com to let us know and we'll refund $100 to the credit card used at registration.  The deadline to get the refund is December 11, 2020.
