VOLUNTEER POSITIONS
AND BASIC JOB DESCRIPTIONS
COACH (ENTIRE SEASON)
Coaches are in charge of the team. They pick up the teams equipment bag and jerseys. They contact their players. They hold a parents meeting to inform the parents of all things necessary pre-season. They plan the drills for practices, fill in all of the game score sheets, attend technical clinics and training sessions and run the games.
ASSISTANT COACH (ENTIRE SEASON)
The Assistant Coaches attends the meetings that coach isn’t able to, helps run the practice drills, he/she might carry the equipment for the coach. Can also assist with the collection of balls at the end of the games so they aren’t stolen.
TEAM MANAGER (ENTIRE SEASON)
The major role of the team manager is to provide support for the coach. This allows the coach to focus on coaching the team rather than team administration.
SCORE KEEPER (2-3 TIMES PER SEASON)
The score keeper will be responsible for marking the score sheet. The score keeper is recognized as a minor official for the game. Proper decorum will be used at all times and includes no outward signs of bias, no coaching and no disrespectful conduct to the on-court officials, players, coaches and spectators.
TIME KEEPER (2-3 TIMES PER SEASON)
The time keeper will be responsible for operating the time clock and showing the game score on a flip chart or electronic score clock. The time keeper is recognized as a minor official for the game. Proper decorum will be used at all times and includes no outward signs of bias, no coaching and no disrespectful conduct to the on-court officials, players, coaches and spectators
GYM PATROL (4-5 TIMES PER SEASON)
Usually for teams that are big, with lots of parents. Ensures that gym rules are being followed…no outdoor shoes and no drinks or food other than water. Makes sure the gyms are tidy after the game.
EQUIPMENT PICK UP AND/OR RETURN (12-15 PEOPLE REQUIRED)
Works with Equipment Director either preparing the equipment and jersey bags, handing them out and recording numbers (typically in later August or early September before season starts), etc. Or the reverse, helping with the return of the equipment and recording if there is anything missing (typically in late March once the season is complete), etc.
CASINO (Once during season)
From general manager, banker, cashier, chip runner and count room. We have a Casino every other year and if you volunteer for one casino shift it will count for 2 years of your volunteer commitment.
